Called To Honduras

WHY HONDURAS IS A BEAUTIFUL CALLING FOR OUR CATHOLIC MISSION WORK.

Honduras is a uniquely meaningful place for Catholic mission outreach because the needs of many remote communities extend far beyond spiritual guidance alone. For St. Anthony of Padua, the mountain villages near Trujillo became the place where Deacon Mike Mims first answered God’s call to mission work — planting the seeds of a ministry rooted in faith, compassion, & loving service that continues to impact countless lives today.

Honduras is a nation with deeply rooted Catholic traditions & a beautiful faith-filled culture. Through our partnership with the Diocese of Trujillo, we are blessed with the opportunity to walk alongside vulnerable communities in a spirit of service, compassion, & Christian fellowship. It is truly a privilege to serve in collaboration with Bishop Jenry, whose devoted leadership, humility, & commitment to his people continue to inspire our mission team each year.

While sharing the Gospel & strengthening the faith remain at the heart of our mission, many villages also face limited access to essential healthcare, dental care, vision services, education, infrastructure support, & basic resources that many elsewhere take for granted.

For I was hungry and you gave Me food, I was thirsty, and you gave Me drink, I was a stranger, and you welcomed Me.
— Matthew 25:35

Our mission work in Honduras provides a holistic ministry of compassion — caring not only for the soul, but also for the physical, emotional, & human needs of God’s people. Through Medical, Dental, & Ophthalmology clinics, our missionaries can relieve pain, restore dignity, improve quality of life, & provide care to individuals who might otherwise go years without seeing a doctor, dentist, or eye specialist.

At the same time, infrastructure projects, educational support, catechesis, & Vacation Bible School activities help strengthen the long-term well-being of the villages while bringing hope, joy, & encouragement to the children & families.

In many ways, Honduras provides a powerful opportunity for our missionaries to live out Christ’s example of servant leadership — meeting people where they are with love, humility, compassion, & presence.

The beauty of our mission is found not only in the services provided, but in the relationships formed:

  • praying together,

  • listening to stories,

  • playing with children,

  • worshiping at village Masses.

  • sharing meals,

  • offering comfort,

  • plus reminding communities that they are deeply loved & never forgotten.

MISSION WITH PURPOSE.

For the missionaries themselves, Honduras often becomes more than a destination — it becomes a transformative encounter with Christ through the poor, the vulnerable, & the joyful faith of the people they serve.

By combining spiritual ministry with medical care, education, fellowship, & humanitarian outreach, our annual mission trips help reflect the fullness of Christ’s love — caring for both body & soul while bringing hope to communities that continue to inspire all who visit them.

GO.LOVE.SERVE.
