WHAT WE'VE ACHIEVED
Growth of the spirit since our first mission in 2014.
The most significant growth has been spiritual: an increase in the practice of the Catholic faith & a renewed vibrancy in the communities we serve.
WHAT WE’VE ACHIEVED
Expansion of the Catholic faith through baptisms, First Communions, Confirmations, Catholic weddings, & historic pastoral visits by Bishop Jenry to La Colonia, El Mirador, & La Esperancita.
Enhancement of educational opportunities through classroom expansion, a computer lab, technology resources, & sponsorship programs that empower students to pursue higher education.
Improved infrastructure & sustainable development, including expanded chapels, electricity, playgrounds, & community spaces that foster both learning & faith.
Introduction of a Clean Water Initiative, beginning with training local "Water Women" & culminating in a gravity-fed water system that carries safe drinking water more than a mile down the mountain to the families of El Mirador.
Expansion of Medical, Dental, & Vision services during mission week, including the addition of ophthalmology care, a Mobile Medical Unit, with medical & dental outreach by boat to the remote villages of Quinito & Plan Grande, where roads do not exist.
Year-round support through the systematic distribution of supplies & medical resources, ensuring that essential needs continue to be met long after mission week concludes.
Immediate sustenance & humanitarian relief during the COVID-19 pandemic, providing food, supplies, & hope to families facing extraordinary hardship.
Creation of inspiring murals & sacred artwork that beautify community spaces—leaving behind lasting visual reminders of Christ's love that villagers see, cherish, & enjoy every day.
Together, these accomplishments reflect more than projects completed—they are a testament to faith in action & the enduring commitment to serve the people of Honduras with compassion, dignity, & love.
The original vision remains alive today as we continue to grow — strengthening their spirit & our own through the relationships we have formed.
Growth of Spirit
Since our first mission in 2014, we have witnessed a profound deepening of faith on both sides of the mission.
Where a priest or religious sister once visited only two or three times a year, these communities now receive pastoral care more than once a month. Sacramental life has flourished:
2014: A handful of baptisms
2015: Increased baptisms & the addition of First Communions
2016: Ten Catholic weddings
2017: Twelve Confirmations during the dedication of a new chapel
The chapels in La Colonia & El Mirador were expanded & wired for future electricity. La Colonia received electricity in 2016; El Mirador followed in 2017. Inspired by this growth, neighboring communities restored abandoned chapels & built new houses of worship. These chapels now serve as vibrant spiritual centers used nearly every day.
One of the most joyful milestones in our mission's history came in 2024, when Bishop Jenry made the journey high into the mountains to La Colonia to celebrate Holy Mass & preside over baptisms on our mission trip. For many villagers, it was a historic & deeply emotional occasion—a visible reminder that the universal Church had come to embrace them in their remote corner of Honduras.
The following year, Bishop Jenry continued this extraordinary pastoral outreach by traveling to El Mirador & La Esperancita, bringing the sacraments, encouragement, & the loving presence of the Church to even more families. His visits stand as a powerful testament to the remarkable spiritual growth of these communities & the enduring bonds forged through our shared faith.
What began as a humble outreach has blossomed into thriving Catholic communities where faith is celebrated, sacraments are embraced, & Christ's love continues to transform lives for generations to come.
Expanding Impact
In 2016, the mission expanded to serve Las Brisas & Esperancita. We assisted all four communities in extending education beyond sixth grade & partnered with Water With Blessings to train local "Water Women," bringing sustainable clean water solutions to families—dramatically improving health, especially among children.
Our commitment to reaching the most vulnerable continues to grow. In 2026, the mission expanded its outreach even further by traveling by boat to the remote coastal villages of Quinito & Plan Grande, communities inaccessible by road. These journeys allow our medical & dental teams to bring compassionate care directly to families who would otherwise have little to no access to healthcare services, ensuring that geography is never a barrier to Christ's healing ministry.
In recent years, the mission has continued to grow:
Construction of additional classrooms & a computer lab.
Provision of laptops & audio/visual equipment.
Installation of community playgrounds.
Sponsorship of high school students.
Addition of ophthalmology services in 2019.
Launch of a Mobile Medical Unit in 2024.
Expanded clean water access in El Mirador in 2024.
Medical & dental outreach to the remote villages of Quinito & Plan Grande by boat.
What began as a small act of faith has grown into a vibrant ministry of hope—bringing education, healthcare, clean water, & the love of Christ to communities throughout Honduras.
