EVERY YEAR, SOMETHING SPECIAL HAPPENS on the next-to-last Sunday of October.
WORLD MISSION SUNDAY joins all Catholics of the world into one community of faith. At Mass that Sunday, we recommit ourselves to our common vocation, through Baptism to be missionaries, through prayer, participation in the Eucharist, and by giving generously to the collection for the Society for the Propagation of the Faith
Pope Francis’ message for World Mission Sunday this year reflects on the theme: “You shall be my witnesses” (Acts 1:8). He reminds us that, “every Christian is called to be a missionary and witness to Christ. And the Church, the community of Christ’s disciples, has no other mission than that of bringing the Gospel to the entire world by bearing witness to Christ. To evangelize is the very identity of the Church..”

The earlier commitment window allows missionaries to have more time to fundraise--including the holiday season--because a mission donation makes an excellent Christmas gift to you from your family and friends!
Prayerfully consider joining the team for a Catechetical, Medical and Dental mission to the mountains of Honduras. The 2024 Mission Application opens Friday, September 1 and closes October 31, 2023.
Planning this year has shifted a few months forward to allow missionaries more time to achieve their fundraising goal. As soon as we receive your travel request, we will build a personal fundraising page for you to share with family and friends or post on social media.
No hablas español? No problemo! We need all kinds of missionaries – anyone wanting to work hard and share their talents helping others. Travel to La Colonia, Honduras is scheduled for July 27 to August 3, 2024.
We are asking missionaries to complete their online application and $200 commitment in order to move forward with operations and logistics planning. NOTE: For 2024 space is limited to 50 travelers.

The Month of June has some advantages over September which makes it a more practical choice. We have approval from the Archdiocese and final preparations are underway for our return in June.
Although travel has been postponed since 2020, we have continued to support the communities of Honduras with educational and religious needs throughout the years.
We are so very excited to be able to serve in-person once again!

This year, more than ever, people are suffering from both isolation & physical poverty; the world needs missionaries & our Honduran communities miss us!

The Deacon Mike Mims Memorial Golf Tournament honors the legacy of service, community, faith, and friendship that were pivotal to the ministry of Dcn. Mike Mims in The Woodlands, TX, and far beyond.
Deacon Mike (aka Deacon Baldy) was a trailblazer and a catalyst for many charitable causes including Life Teen Inc, our very own Honduras mission, and a Haitian mission, but his most beloved cause was his ministry as a deacon to the people of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.
He always pushed those around him to succeed in every area of life including how they treated others. He is the founding father of St. Anthony’s Honduras Mission & his passion has fueled others who continue to carry on his dedication to service in his name.
Deacon Mike's ministry was sadly cut short as he passed away suddenly in 2015, but many of his good works continue today - positively impacting the lives of those who are in most need.
This golf tournament aims to further many of the over 100+ services provided to Montgomery County and the greater Houston region by the parishioners of St. Anthony of Padua that Deacon Mike Mims was pivotal in forming.
We have a wonderful opportunity as we did in 2021 for our mission to partner with St Anthony’s Bread Food Pantry on Thursday, November 17h. It’s an awesome way for missionaries to get together on this glorious day and have some fun while serving others in need.
Each year the Bread Food Pantry offers a Thanksgiving box full of all the trimmings to families in need of assistance in the Montgomery County Area.

World Mission Sunday is a day set aside for the Catholic Church throughout the world to publicly renew its commitment to the missionary movement, coordinated by the Pontifical Mission Societies, who are also known as Missio. It was created by Pope Pius XI in 1926 as the day of prayer for missions.
World Mission Sunday is celebrated on the penultimate (next-to-last) Sunday of October every year. The theme for last year in 2021 was:
"We cannot but speak about what we have seen and heard." Acts 4:20
Planning for the 2022 celebration is still pending for the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston & how the parishioners of St. Anthony of Padua can take part. Please check back for additional details as the event date draws near. Until then, click on the button below for a special message from His Holiness Pope Francis.
POSTPONED
Unfortunately, due to the ever-changing landscape of COVID, travel plans for 2022 have been postponed. A smaller scouting trip is being planned for June until our regular mission can resume.
The Month of June has some advantages over September which makes it a more practical choice however we will still need approval by the Archdiocese before final preparations can be made for a full mission trip in 2022.
Until then, we continue to support the communities of Honduras with educational and religious needs throughout the year.
Stop by after Mass on Sunday May 1st from 8:00AM to 3:00PM to support our Honduras Mission by grabbing some tacos to go! Make sure to bring your appetite!
We will be set-up in the Piazza for your convenience. In addition to various delicious breakfast & lunch Tacos, we will have Clay Crosses from Mexico plus bags of Coffee from the school in Honduras for sale.
All Taco Sale proceeds will go directly to the educational & religious services that are provided to the communities in Honduras that our St. Anthony of Padua’s Mission outreach program serves.
The Archdiocese Mission Council met on Friday, January 21, 2022. One of the key agenda items was an update from the Office of Risk Management regarding International Mission Groups. The message was that they are still assessing with no timeline for when they would make a final decision.
Please note, the Commitment Meeting scheduled for this Thursday, January 27th has been cancelled. We will keep everyone informed as more details are made available.
Until we hear back from the Archdiocese on their final decision to allow Missions to travel, or not, our mission work serving our villages in Honduras will continue remotely like it has since the pandemic started. Their needs continue and our help has been tremendous through our financial support and prayers.
